It was only a few years ago that I took on the challenge to fix up a desk for my daughter’s room. Little did I know that this one project in the fall of 2018 would lead to another, and another. I was quickly surprised at how much joy bringing life to old, tired furniture brought me. I was as equally surprised that others too, found beauty in my work so much that they were willing to purchase for their own homes. I am so grateful for this unexpected source of provision and give thanks every day for the opportunity.
Truth be told it all started much further back. My mother and her sisters, as well as my grandma all carried incredible artistic and creative skills. Each of them distinctly different from the next, but with obvious similarities in the quality and variety of their craft. I was inspired and continually exposed to their gifts, which I’m grateful has contributed much to what I enjoy today. I have no doubt all the crafting, art, and DIYs are what led to this point.
I was given the privilege to stay home with my young children, but was always looking for other ways I might be able to supplement our income. “HannMade” began in 2016 with home goods, crafts, decor, and a lot of crocheted items, much of which I was able to do while my babies slept. However, I quickly pivoted with my work once I had experienced the process of bringing beauty to a rundown desk.
As my family grows and our life evolves I also look forward to the future of HannMade, to the designs I have yet to brainstorm, to the collaborations I have yet to make, and to the customers I will meet.
